STARS is an after-school program for elementary students (Grades 1-5) and middle school students (Grades 6-8). Through STARS, struggling students receive both academic help and loving encouragement to keep learning.
In addition to help with homework and a healthy meal, kids enjoy recreational activity, exposure to the arts, and a fun, welcoming environment where they can form friendships. STARS also offers a safe, loving place for kids to be after school, a time when many of them would otherwise be home alone.

I have been a volunteer with Folsom’s Hope for two years helping students with their homework as part of the STARS program at Theodore Judah Elementary School. I really enjoy being able to work one-on-one with the students. It is especially rewarding when their faces light up as they finally understand an assignment that has been a challenge for them.
